Soukup Construction is a regional excavation company that performs site preparation, utility work, and demolition throughout eastern South Dakota. We do a variety of earthwork activities including site preparation for small and large buildings; earthwork for highway and urban streets; demolition of buildings, pavements, houses and bridges; environmental cleanup; underground utilities and general hauling. We pride ourselves in partnering with owners and general contractors.
Soukup Construction was founded in 1963 with a bulldozer and a pick-up truck. Carl & Marietta Soukup started the business in Scotland, SD, moved to Irene, and settled in Sioux Falls in 1973. Soukup Construction grew as a family business in the 1970’s and 80’s. Their son, Jim, was promoted to President in the 1990’s. Now in its sixth location, Soukup Construction moved to a state-of-the-art facility in 2016 with 100 employees and over 300 pieces of late model construction equipment.
At Soukup Construction, we are interested in hiring safety-minded employees. We continually strive to be one of the safest earth moving companies in the area. Each month we have employee-led safety meetings as well as weekly tool box talks. In addition, employees attend annual re-certification training for the various types of work that we perform. Soukup Construction is proud of its safety history and has received many awards from various regulating agencies to prove it.
Our goal at Soukup Construction is to provide the best value on every project we complete – not only cost-efficiency, but durability that exceeds expectations. This is rooted in our company values: Integrity, Teamwork, Excellence, Financial Success. Our employees are recognized each month for demonstrating these core values in their work.
Among Soukup Construction’s earliest projects was the preparation and construction of Interstate 90 across South Dakota. Every road, bridge and municipal project – as well as many commercial developments – impact people’s lives. We like to think that even our smallest projects will have a lasting impact on the betterment of the communities and the people who live, work and play there.
